FOSTER CARE
When children are removed from their parents’ custody, being cared for by the extended family – also known as “kinship care” – helps maintain family ties and minimise disruptions in daily life.
When this is not possible, placement in a “traditional” foster family is often a way to provide the child or young person with a stable family environment.
Foster parents, the child, and the biological parents all receive guidance and support from the team of the “Fleegefamilljendéngscht” foster care service.
